A unique resort
The Mazarrón Country Club is a
unique resort, quite unlike any other project in
many important aspects. First of all it is not a
holiday park, but is designed for permanent
residents, holiday-makers and letting alike.
This means that the facilities are operational
and that social activities are on offer all year
round
|
|
 |
|
|
 |
|
All types of residents
The fact that local residents can become
members of the "Social Club" promotes the
integration of the Country Club residents and
locals. The houses in the Country Club are sold
in 14 different countries, and that includes
local people from in and around Mazarrón buying
a second home. There are a large number of
different cultures and nationalities, reducing
the creation of an 'ex-pat' mentality. The age
of the buyers is also extremely varied - great
attention is paid to providing entertainment for
young people, so that the Country Club will not
become a kind of retirement village. |
|
|
The concept
The developers spent four years studying the
concept, looking at and solving the problems
encountered by other residential projects, and
the experience of their residents before
constructing the Mazarrón Country Club. They
have put this information to good use in the
present formula, which is based on a
Californian-style resort, but with a relaxed
European flavour, offering residents every
facility to guarantee their comfort and
convenience.
|
|
 |
|
|
 |
|
Self-sufficient
Another difference between this and other
projects is that the Mazarrón Country Club is
completely self-sufficient. Not only is it
independent of the whims of local politicians,
but it also has its own network of gas pipelines,
its own - ecological - water supply, refuse
collection, shuttle bus, communications network
(via a satellite and a central telephone
exchange which dispenses with a jungle of
satellite dishes and antennas), street lighting,
security cameras etc. Some think that this can
only mean high maintenance costs, but that's not
true. By retaining control over the residential
environment and ensuring high-quality
maintenance from the outset, costs can in fact
be kept relatively low. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
A sound concept
The project is in the hands of a well-known
Spanish family which has lived in the city of
Mazarrón for generations. The complete success
of the project is therefore important to Antonio
Subiela personally - it is his place of birth,
so that it is a matter of healthy prestige and
family honour. The family want this project to
serve as an example for other projects in the
area, their own and others.
The design of the
Mazarrón Country Club
The construction of the homes on the Mazarrón
Country Club is more than high-quality. A solid
foundation for a robust building is laid on a
layer of gravel, topped with a layer of
concrete, and a thick reinforced underfloor is
constructed on top of that. High-quality
materials, good insulation and intensive
supervision are the basis for homes which will
require a minimum of maintenance. |
|
Eye for detail
The architecture demonstrates eye for detail, and the
architect, Paco Baeza, may well be justified in claiming
that other projects in the area do not even approach the
quality of 'his' homes. In theory, you could move into
most of the homes as they are. The advantage of
individual construction is that work does not commence
until the contract of sale has been signed. This means
that owners can still make changes.

The comfort of Mazarron
Country Club
The Mazarrón Country Club has everything to
make a resident's life as comfortable and
convenient as possible. The first and second
phase of the project has been completed, which
consists of approximately 800 houses. Several
services are already in operation, for example;
24 hour security guards, refuse collection, mail
boxes, an after sales-office (broker) and a
shuttle bus to the beach. There is also a
bar/restaurant, tennis-courts, tropical
swimmingpool, jeu de boules and an international
library. You can even get Spanish cooking
lessons! The 3rd phase of building includes
around 380 housees, which will commence in
October 2006. They will also start work on the
golf course at this time. The 3rd phase and the
golf course should be completed by autumn 2008.

Mazarrón
The town of Mazarrón has two centres.
Mazarrón itself, with its 27,000 inhabitants,
and everything you would expect to find in a
town of this size: a range of shops, a weekly
market, a hospital, primary and secondary
schools, banks etc. And then there is the
coastal Puerto de Mazarrón with its esplanade,
marina, fishing port, restaurants, pavement
cafés, sailing and diving schools, hotels and
apartments.

|
 |
|
|
 |
|
Unparalleled natural
beauty
The rich variety of the natural landscape
around Mazarrón greatly enhances the residential
and leisure environment. The coastal and
surrounding areas offer a great contrast in
terms of natural beauty, peace and tranquillity
and excellent opportunities for sports and
culture. It takes just 20 minutes to reach the
nature reserve at Sierra Espuña from Mazarrón
Country Club, but the stark contrast of the
natural environment also provides scope for
outdoor activities: you can walk in the nature
reserves, go horse-riding or take one of the
beautiful cycling routes through the mountains.

Outings
The location of the Mazarrón Country Club means
it has easy access to all kinds of outings
further afield. Granada is two hours' drive. You
will discover that one day is not enough to view
the world-famous Alhambra, and from here it is
just 30 minutes to the summer ski resort in the
Sierra Nevada, where you can ski well into the
Spring and sometimes into the Summer. The
provincial capital of Murcia is also close: a
city of great beauty and culture, just 45
minutes away, like Cartagena (the oldest port in
Europe).
Keen golf-players can drive to the 54-hole
golf link at Manga del Mar Menor in just 30
minutes. And last but not least, you need to
drive no more than 10 minutes to the shuttle
which will take you to various bays along the
coast, for example the beach at Bol Nuevo where
the Country Club beach club is to be built. |
|
 |
|
|
 |
|
Golf
Mazarrón's private golf link will be fitted
with floodlights and will be ready for its first
game in 2010. But there are another 14 links in
the immediate vicinity, each with its own
distinct flavour, from exclusive to no-nonsense.
Even a spoilt golfer will have everything his
heart desires with such an enormous number of
links to choose from. The large number of links
combined with the mild climate means that this
area is a true paradise for golf-lovers. |

Water sports and skiing
The Costa Cálida offers a wide range of water
sports, including diving, sport fishing, wind
surfing, water skiing and sailing. There are a
great variety of marinas along the coast, from
simple fishing ports to a number of large
international yacht harbours with every
imaginable type of facility. The winter ski
slopes of the Sierra Nevada are just two hours'
drive from Mazarrón. With its excellent
technical facilities and infrastructure, good
hotels and entertainment, this area has
everything to attract every type of skier. |

|
|
|
|
|
|
Culture
Spain is unimaginable without festivals, and
each region has its own. The Costa Cálida is no
exception: carnival, religious festivals, fairs
and pilgrimages, village feasts and folklore.
There is also a wealth of festivals, concerts,
and a tradition of local handiwork, art and
fashion.

Culinary delights
Spain is famous for its culinary excellence.
The gastronomy of southern Spain and in
particular the province of Murcia, is a fusion
of the various cultures that have settled there,
leaving their mark on the culinary heritage. As
you would expect in such surroundings, the area
boasts local and plain cuisine, winter dishes
and shepherd's fare, and along the coast, of
course, Mediterranean food. This extremely
popular cuisine includes tapas, deep-fried fish
and roast meat. Wine is a fundamental part of
this regional cuisine. Spain has become one of
the largest wine-producing countries in Europe.
Eating out is a special occasion, and yet,
compared with other countries, has remained
easily affordable. |
